Agilent ZORBAX Eclipse XDB HPLC columns use eXtra-Dense Bonding (XDB) and extensive surface deactivation for the separation of acidic, basic and highly polar compounds. The combination of a densely bonded stationary phase and exhaustive endcapping reduces unwanted interactions between analytes and the silica surface while also protecting the silica support from dissolution at intermediate and higher pH conditions.

ZORBAX Eclipse XDB-C18 is prepared by chemically bonding a dense monolayer of dimethyl-n-octadecylsilane (C18) to ZORBAX silica. The C18 stationary phase is particularly suitable for reversed-phase separations of acidic, basic and other highly polar compounds. The eXtra-Dense Bonding and endcapping provide a highly deactivated chromatographic surface.

ZORBAX Eclipse XDB-C8 uses a dense monolayer of chemically bonded dimethyl-n-octylsilane (C8) on ZORBAX Rx-SIL. Compared with the C18 chemistry, the shorter C8 bonded phase provides another option for controlling retention and selectivity in reversed-phase separations while maintaining the surface deactivation provided by XDB technology.

ZORBAX Eclipse XDB-Phenyl provides an alternative selectivity to XDB-C18 and XDB-C8. It also uses eXtra-Dense Bonding and exhaustive endcapping to minimize unwanted interactions with the silica surface.

ZORBAX Eclipse XDB-CN is designed for normal-phase chromatography and is particularly suitable for basic compounds. The XDB-CN phase can be used for normal-phase applications and its densely bonded and endcapped surface also reduces undesirable analyte interactions.
