Agilent ZORBAX StableBond and 300StableBond HPLC Columns

Agilent ZORBAX StableBond and 300StableBond HPLC columns use sterically protected bonded phases designed for chromatographic stability under demanding mobile phase conditions. The StableBond phases are non-endcapped and can be operated over a pH range of 1.0–8.0. Their bonded-phase structure is particularly suitable for applications using low-pH mobile phases, high ionic strength or ion-pair additives. The standard StableBond phases are based on high-purity ZORBAX silica with a 80 Å pore size and a surface area of 180 m2/g. The wide pore 300StableBond (300SB) phases use spherical particles with a controlled 300 Å pore size and a 45 m2/g surface area. Different bonded-phase chemistries are available to provide specific phase selectivities for a broad range of compounds and separation conditions.

ZORBAX SB-C18 and 300SB-C18 columns uses a densely bonded, sterically protected diisobutyl n-octadecylsilane (C18) stationary phase. The protected C18 bonding provides chemical stability with aggressive mobile phases and supports extended column operation under low-pH conditions.

ZORBAX SB-C8 and 300SB-C8 contains a sterically protected diisopropyl n-octylsilane (C8) stationary phase bonded to ZORBAX silica. The C8 chemistry combines reduced alkyl chain length with the chemical stability of the StableBond design.

ZORBAX SB-C3 and 300SB-C3 are based on a sterically protected isopropyl (C3) stationary phase. Its bonded-phase structure resists degradation when used with aggressive conditions such as pH below 2, high ionic strength and ion-pair additives.

ZORBAX SB-CN and 300SB-CN contains a densely bonded, sterically protected diisopropyl cyanopropylsilane (CN) stationary phase. The protected CN chemistry provides resistance to degradation under low-pH, high-ionic-strength and ion-pair mobile phase conditions.

ZORBAX SB-Phenyl uses a densely covered, sterically protected diisopropyl phenylsilane stationary phase. The phase is designed to reduce strong adsorption of basic compounds and provides phenyl selectivity for reversed-phase separations.

ZORBAX SB-Aq is manufactured by chemically bonding a proprietary reversed-phase alkyl group to ZORBAX silica, providing an additional selectivity within the StableBond 80 Å column family.
