Agilent PL PolarGel GPC/SEC Columns

Agilent PL PolarGel GPC/SEC columns are designed for the molecular weight analysis of polar macromolecules in intermediate- and high-polarity organic solvents. Their medium-polarity surface and high mechanical stability provide compatibility with challenging GPC/SEC eluents such as DMF, DMAc, DMSO and NMP, as well as a broader solvent range extending from THF to water.

Highly polar functional groups in polymers can produce non-specific interactions with conventional stationary phases, resulting in secondary separation mechanisms, distorted chromatograms and inaccurate molecular weight data. PolarGel mixed-bed columns are designed to minimize these interactions and provide size-based GPC/SEC separation for polar polymers that may not be soluble in conventional aqueous or organic solvent systems.

PL PolarGel-L is an 8 µm mixed-bed GPC/SEC column with a resolving range from 100 Da to 60 kDa. It is suitable for lower molecular weight polar macromolecules analyzed with medium-polarity organic eluents.

PL PolarGel-M extends the resolving range from 200 Da to 500 kDa, providing an option for polar polymers with broader and higher molecular weight distributions. Both PolarGel-L and PolarGel-M are available in a 7.5 x 300 mm column format with 8 µm particles.
