Agilent InfinityLab Poroshell 120 and Poroshell 300 HPLC Columns

Agilent InfinityLab Poroshell HPLC and UHPLC columns use superficially porous particle (SPP) technology to provide efficient chromatographic separations of small molecules, peptides and proteins. The particles consist of a solid silica core surrounded by a porous silica layer, reducing the diffusion distance of analytes and improving mass transfer compared with conventional fully porous particles. The portfolio includes InfinityLab Poroshell 120 columns for small-molecule separations and Poroshell 300 columns for larger biomolecules.

Agilent InfinityLab Poroshell 120 HPLC and UHPLC Columns

InfinityLab Poroshell 120 columns are designed for high-efficiency reversed-phase liquid chromatography of small molecules. The series includes approximately 20 stationary-phase chemistries, covering general-purpose reversed-phase separations, high-pH and low-pH applications, polar analytes and chiral separations.

Poroshell 120 columns are available in particle sizes of 1.9 µm, 2.7 µm and 4 µm, depending on the stationary phase. These particle configurations support method development and transfer between conventional HPLC and low-dispersion UHPLC systems. Several Poroshell 120 chemistries correspond to traditional ZORBAX stationary phases, facilitating method transfer from fully porous to superficially porous columns.

Agilent Poroshell 300 HPLC Columns

Agilent Poroshell 300 columns use 5 µm superficially porous silica particles with a 300 Å pore structure for the separation of peptides and proteins. The solid-core particle design reduces the diffusion distance within the porous layer, helping to minimize peak broadening associated with the slower diffusion of large biomolecules and are suitable for the analysis of peptides and proteins with molecular weights up to approximately 500–1,000 kDa, depending on the analyte and separation conditions.

The Poroshell 300 portfolio includes 300SB-C18, 300SB-C8, 300SB-C3 and 300Extend-C18 stationary phases. These chemistries provide different reversed-phase selectivities for biomolecule separations using mobile phases containing trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) or formic acid.
